I have been gone all day...just found out the registration for race online is not working. YOu can sign up day of race for same price. So come a little early. So happy a lot of you are coming! Im still not feeling great after the flu this week, not expecting any PR's myself...but I WILL be there.
I didn't make it to the official run but I just got back from a 5k I mapped out. My time was 37:04 (bleh). And I walked almost a mile of it. Not awesome but considering I haven't ran distance in 10 years, it's better than nothing, I guess.
Great job everyone on the run today including Brett. Last year there were three of us including two of the owners of Viking Crossfit. This year there were four including one owner(Natalie). Next year I am predicting ten runners. It was awesome watching people in the run.
Got a new PR of 26:24. 4 minutes faster than on a treadmill 2 months ago. It is definitely easier on the treadmill and I will be going for sub 25 within the next month. I had it in me but didn't know the course well and ended up saving to much in reserve for the end.
Good job to everyone that ran. See everyone on monday.
Today was a blast! Thanks for coming to run Rockey, Mandy and Dez! Everyone did great! It's just so cool that we don't train for distance runs, but we all know how to push through a workout, or a run, and mentally and physically we all knew we could do it. Crossfit is the best. Great job everyone today. Great job Brett for doing one on your own...that's awesome!
Okay first of all.... Kevin what was up with you not showing up. Dez and I waited for you forever. Slacker! Anyway your loss. j/k Although at the store today Will and I found a Cd that the band was named "Clutch". The race was a lot of fun. I am glad I did it. Brett my time was like yours. We were within a few seconds of each other. Considering the 5 K's I ran several years ago this one felt so much better. I really wished I would have ran the beginning like I did the last mile. I did not know I had it in me. Although 3-4 minutes of it was helping this little old man that got ran over by a lady with a stroller. He cut up his knees and face. I felt so bad. But he finished that race. I was proud of him. He should join crossfit because he got his game face on and continued. I thought taking the pictures was so much fun!! I will be putting mine on my blog tonight some time. Everyone should check them out. www.wamackintoshfam.blogspot.com Natalie I am excited for you to send the hand stand pics in. lol Way to go everyone! My goal is to one day pass one of you guys. lol Oh and Phill and Blake showed up. It was cool to see them look sharp today. Go Orem Police and K-9 officers! Woop! Woop! p.s. when are we doing next race? I am in.
P.S. My wife is a runner and her dad was the XCountry coach at Timp View for like 25 years or something ... Coach K. Anyway, she is excited that I did the 5k and now wants to run 2-3 times a week with me. I'd like to get my time down to less than 30 min by the end of summer. I bet if I pace myself, don't start too fast, don't walk the last .75 mile, I'll be able to do it. And of course, keep doing the WODs ... even if I can't get to the gym each time.
