Why is the movement of the deadlift so important?

Quiet day on the boards. Thanks to whoever answered my question earlier about the OHS weights. Did the WOD you guys did yesterday

AMRAP/20 minutes
15 Overhead squats 65#
10 knees to elbows
5 HSPU

7 rounds + 7 OHS
That was way harder than it looked on paper. Shoulders still havent recovered from the last set of 3 WODS. So today they were the first thing to go. Anybody that did more than 7 rounds of that WOD has my respect I tell you what.
As far as the video, I totally agree. Think the deadlift is overlooked in most conventional workouts. I know I didn't do it until I started CF'ing and my job relies heavily at times on being able to lift heavy objects/people. Irregardless of who you are, you spend your life bending over to pick things up. I see tons of geriatric (spelling?) patients who would benefit from scaled CF WODs including deadlifts. It would greatly enhance their level of living.
Bored at the station so hence the long post.

Did main site WOD:
7 rounds (Yes SEVEN):
21 Back Extentions
21 Push Press 75#

43:54

I won't be able raise my arms over my head tomorrow.

Deadlifts: Probably the most important movement to learn to do safely. If you can no longer bend over and pick something off the floor, the nursing home is right around the corner. Well either that or a trained monkey. Never stop working the deadlift.

Nice job guys on your wods today. The both look tough-yikes!

I totally agree with you both on the deadlifts. If older people would learn how to perform this movement, and do it often, it could help prevent kyposis, (the hunchback we see in so many elderly). As well as improve their quality of life. This movement is SO important. Not my favorite lift, but I'm learning to like it. :)

oh I totally slaughtered the word, I meant "kyphosis" --the hunchback. That's what happens when you try to blog when you are tired.
