Deadlift

3 . 3 . 3 . 3 . 3

Post loads to comments.

Steve has good form with a nice lumbar curve, shoulders
back, and hamstrings activated. The deadlift is the
skill of the month and such an important lift. Be sure
to watch the deadlift demo video above under links.

Now- watch this video link of a guy with terrible form. I think
this is the worst deadlift I've ever seen. It is hilarious!!!

I don't think I got all of that weight of the ground on that attempt. Kinda heavy for me!

Today:
Snatch 1-1-1-1-1
85,95,100,105,110

Think I'll practice snatching in the gym next time.

So the last 2 days have been killer for the lower back. YIKES!! I didn't post yesterday, but I did...
7 rnds
21 SP (55# first 2 rnds, then 45#)
21 Back ext.
Time: 31:04
This one did not look so bad on paper, but let me tell you, for those of you who didn't do it... IT SUCKED!!! I started getting to the point on my SP that I could only get up 1 at a time. It always stinks going down on weight, but sometimes form is better than weight... or so they say :) I had to make up my time on the back ext. Mandy did awesome, especially w/ a hurt shoulder.
Well, again, I came in this AM, had Will and Mandy there w/ me!

I tried to go up to 160# on the last one, but my back wouldn't have it. I am still extremely sore from "Erin" on Monday and my WODs are suffering because of it!! Well, if you're not sore, then you need to work harder right? Mandy and Will did aweseome as usual. It was nice having them there. Thanks Dave for helping all of us on our form.
And as for Cody... WELL... he was supposed to come do a WOD w/ us and "supposedly" thought we were coming earlier then we did!! He's just scared :)? LOL, we'll see you all Saturday.
(Sorry, this was like a novel!)

Should have dropped to 245 on the last set. Dave could see and I could feel that my form wasn't so great on the last set. Mandy and Tessa did great, when they weren't whining about being sore! ;)

You guys and gals are all awesome! I know everyone is soooo sore this week, yet you kept coming back and killing your wods. Crossfitter's Rule! Thanks for all your hard work and dedication, it is so fun to work with all of you who love CF as much as we do. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid, like Will says, it only get's sweeter!!!

P.S. I agree with you Tessa, that wod really sucks. Nice job on your weight. I'm so proud of all of you who did this one!

Did everyone watch that video of the guy trying to deadlift? I can't stop laughing about it. If you listen closely you can hear someone say "good job" to him. I'm telling you, I see this kind of stuff all the time at the "Globo" gym. Scarey.

Hello, yesterday I had my PT test for work. Everything went well. Push-ups full range of motion, sit-ups. Bench body weight. 20 inch vertical jump. This time I wanted to try something different with the mile and a half run. I did it fully turned out and on an SCBA. So I added about 50 lbs to my body.

The goal was to finish under 15:54 minutes and not use my whole tank. I was able to do it in 14 minutes and I don't know how many seconds. That was my first try so next time I do it my goal will be to finish under 12 minutes which is superior under Orem standards.

Jason- NICE BRO! I can't even imagine running a mile and a half turned out and on air. You my friend never cease to amaze me. All though I wish you would stop amazing me, it's starting to affect my self esteem. ;)
Nat- I was gonna comment on that video earlier but was in a hurry to post my wod and get back out the door. But yeah, that video is absolutely mind boggling. I was waiting for his back to snap like a twig. I didn't notice the "good job" comment. I'll have to watch it again. I would like to see the look on one of the trainers faces if one of us did that. Now that would be funny!

Steve= (regarding your comment )the weight on the front picture is only 95#. I'm sure you can deadlift that :) Although, I think you were doing squat cleans that day, but I used your pic anyway because you had such good form.
Will= I think I would have a miny stroke if I saw someone do that at our gym...That is why you come to Viking CF...nobody will EVER deadlift like that at our gym. :)

On the last round I probably put on to much because my back tried rounding. But I wanted to go out with a bang. It was fun working out with Tessa and Will. Thanks Dave for being there. We had some pretty good laughs like always. Oh and did I thank you Cody for standing us up. But I guess we can forgive you since you brought in the SWEET hoodies and shirts!! As far as Tessa and I whining, it was called complaining with style. Right Tessa?!?!?

At first, watching that video, I was cringing for the guy but when he started bouncing all around, I couldn't help but laugh!
Hilarious, poor guy!

Keep those chins down during the DL folks:)
